This is my first ghostly encounter with a poltergeist.

When I was about 9 years old, my sister, brother and I were in our apartment alone. My sister is about 3 and 1/2 years older than me and had an affinity to play with things that conjured the spirit world. Maybe this was due to our mother believing in the supernatural, evil spirits and that she too practiced secretly some sort of dark magic.

One night our sister and her friends were in her bedroom playing on an Ouija board. She wanted me to join in their group to play. Needless to say I was scared though my sister’s friend was insistent and I had a crush on her. I decided to join in on what would I had hoped to be fun game.

As we played the game we were all cracking jokes at each other as we asked the Ouija board and supposed spirits questions it seemed like we nothing was happening then the Ouija started to move. At first we thought one of us was pushing the Ouija around, then we let go of it and it moved on its own. All of us started to scream. We were all in total shock.

My sister jumped on her bed and her friends joined her. As they rushed to put the covers over them all of the light switches, the hall, the bedroom, the bathrooms flickered on and off. We were all scared for our lives, literally we thought we were all going to die.

With my sister crying and her friends too, we were not sure what to do. Then all of a sudden it stopped. It seemed like this was going to go on forever, though in truth it had only been a minute or two, however, long enough to never play this game again.

It didn’t matter though as it seemed like we had opened some door; a gateway of sort since we had many other scary and concerning moments happen after. Years and years after.
