Cinco Saltos the “City of Witches”

If there is one place on earth that is sure to send goose bumps up your spine it is Cinco Saltos which refers to  Five Waterfalls on the Neuquén River that start at the Ingeniero Ballester Dam.  But what is most known as is the  “City of Witches“, it is referred to as such, because of its reports of witchcraft activity including necromancy, or “black magic”.

As you can imagine, you will find numerous haunted places in Cinco Saltos.  One of them would be in a region called as Bajo Negro. It is believed that this spot gets almost no daylight. Paranormal occurrences of UFO sightings have also been reported in parts surrounding the Pellegrini and The Arroyones Lake.

In 2009, an intact corpse of an 8- to 12-year-old girl who had died in the 1930s was found in a cemetery ossuary. Cries and shrieks of a child have regularly been heard by vacationers and guests. Folklore says that a child suffocated while crossing Pellegrini Lake that goes through the town. However, it has never been traced as to where the cries are originating from. Local people say that the child has not discovered salvation and is still looking for solace in the mortal world.
